Alison Smith is the Educational Programs Coordinator and Staff Assistant at the Institute for the Study of War, where she runs the intern program and assists with the Hertog War Studies Program. Prior to joining the ISW team, she worked as a research intern at the American Foreign Policy Council. At AFPC, Ms. Smith focused on current conflicts in the Middle East and international intelligence and counterintelligence strategies. Ms. Smith also worked as a researcher at OpenDemocracy, Arab Awakening, where she studied current events in the MENA region.
Ms. Smith received her MSc in Global Politics at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2015 and graduated with a B.A. in Government and History from Georgetown University in 2013. During her time as an undergraduate, she was involved in the Phi Alpha Theta History Honors Society, the Georgetown University Dance Company, and the Georgetown University Alumni Association. She also spent a semester studying abroad in Florence, Italy.
