“On Sunday, Putin also met with his ally, China’s leader Xi Jinping, in discussions during which the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said the Russian leader intended to highlight Russia’s cooperation with the countries on the Northern Sea Route in the Arctic Sea.
The Washington, D.C., think tank noted that Putin has sought complete Russian control over the route, but has relaxed this position to instead push for the Arctic as an avenue for revenues and cooperation with allies and partners.”
