Kelly Campa is the Middle East Team Lead at the Institute for the Study of War, where she contributes to ISW’s analysis on the regional activity of Iran and its partners. She writes about Syrian government formation, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Iranian regional strategy. She recently co-authored a report about Ahmed al Shara’s efforts to form a new Syrian army comprised of former allies and adversaries from the Syrian opposition. Kelly began her career with ISW as a Syria intern.
Kelly graduated from Middlebury College, where she studied Global Security Studies and Arabic. Kelly has working proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic and Levantine Arabic. She has studied in Jordan and Morocco.
